Does social media help or hinder people
connections?
In my opinion social media sites are very
helpful if you are using it the right way. If you have an old friend that you
have when you were in pre school, you could search him up on Facebook and
instantly chat to him. But being too attached to these websites may higher your
confidence. This could be a good thing and a bad thing. When you meet a friend
that you met one night, and decide to add him on Facebook the next day, you
could be having a great time chatting to him on Facebook. But little did you
know when you meet him in real life you will have a totally different
personality to who you are behind the computer screen.
I think social websites like Facebook and
Twitter lead you to an unsocial lifestyle. Getting addicted to these social
websites is the easiest thing to do. This makes you feel that there is no use
to meet them face-to-face, because you can do it in bed, in the car and even in
the toilet.
I have a couple of examples of friends that
are very active on their social media websites and when we meet them
face-to-face they are the shyest person on planet earth. It’s like it’s the
first time I’m ever seeing this person. But
then when you are on Facebook, you can say whatever you want to them. And they’ll
get the message, whereas when hanging out with groups one person might be
talking a lot and not giving others a chance to talk. This is when social sites
like Facebook gives them a chance to have their word and say something.
I think it is important for us to have good
childhood friends than it is to have 500 friends that you’ve probably met or
twice. It is important that we do not make these social media interfere with
our daily social interactions that use to exist around 5-10 years ago. We also
have to remember that this world is rapidly evolving into a much more
technological world.
This is question has a million answers. It varies on everyones opinion. In my opinion, it is a bit of both, but there is one that I feel that is right. I think social media hinder's peoples connections, just because they think they can replace face-to-face conversations with online chatting.
